Auxerre is doing much better at home, even though they’ve lost their last 2 matches, first against Milan and then against Toulouse, while they’re mostly recording draws on the road. Jean Fernandez is having a solid team at his disposition, but that squad obviously isn’t an even match to the best European sides, while they also didn’t get such a nice group where they could’ve hoped for too much. They did lose their chances in the matches against Ajax, as they were their direct rivals for that 3rd spot. I think they won’t be able to do much in Madrid tonight, and even if they do, that will be a huge surprise for everyone, even for themselves.
There will be goals
Almost everything is resolved in this group as both favorites are playing at home in the last round and I don’t believe they will be giving out free points to Ajax and Auxerre. Real is first in the standings and can play relaxed, while Auxerre has got small chances for the 3rd spot but in order to achieve that, they’ve got to leave more than 100% of their strength and desire on the pitch in Madrid tonight.
