Dundee United has pleasantly surprised us this season. In the first 14 rounds, they lost only one match recording 7 wins at the same time. They suffered their only defeat at home, when Motherwell visited them and won by 1:0. This side surely possess the quality of recording some bigger results, which they justified a few rounds ago when they beat the great Celtic by 2:1 at home. Such results are surely not an accident, so they can’t be written off too early in the match against yet another Scottish powerhouse. They’ve got a great game, clearly not being afraid of anyone and that’s been giving them success so far. There’s no reason for that not to be the case this time again. They’ve got plenty of reasons to be optimistic. Their tradition gives them the right to have faith in a positive outcome from this match as the “Policemen” usually have a tough time beating them at their Tannadice Park. Besides, they will again be carried by a great support of some 12,000 fans from the stands, as full house is expected yet again since their players surely deserved it cause of their terrific performances.
The Policemen are left with the Premiership only
The defending Scottish champs have suffered a quick elimination from the CL, where they’ve usually been recording some really fine results in the past seasons. That’s not all, they didn’t even manage to take the 3rd spot which takes them to Europa League, so they’re done with the international matches for the season. The only thing left for them is to try to defend the domestic title, and the job clearly won’t be easy at all since sides like Hibernian and or Dundee Utd. also became the title contenders beside them and Celtic. The championship will surely be interesting, with plenty of changes in the top. Everybody in their club believes they can repeat the achievement from last year and defend the title, especially because their greatest rivals Celtic aren’t playing too great this season. Everybody is just a few points apart at the top, which is additionally making everyone even more nervous. They’re traveling to this game with the intention of winning, even though they’re aware even Celtic lost at the Tannadice Park, not too long ago so a very tough job is expecting them.
Both teams looking to do better
The last time Dundee Utd won against Rangers was back on October 28th, 2007 by 2:1 at home. They haven’t beaten them ever since, playing as many as 8 matches in between. In the new age, “The Policemen” had quite a lot of problems at the Tannadice Park against Dundee, as the hosts manage to resist them quite hard on a few occasions. A lot of their matches were ended in draws, which surely satisfied Dundee, while the visitors were disappointed as they’ve been failing to beat them twice in a row at this road match for many years now. They will find it hard this time as well, as Dundee Utd. possesses the most mature and an excellent squad than they’ve had in the past few years. It will be very interesting and I expect both sides to be very fired up for this clash. The hosting Dundee will surely not be defending at home, they’re gonna want to win just like the Glasgow guests, which will make this game even more interesting. It’s very hard to predict who could come out on top from this one as the chances are really equal, and that’s why I’ll go for the over 2.5, which seems as the safest choice here.
