Lens’ players are slowly awaking. They got on a 2-game winning streak after beating Sochaux on the road (2:1) and Nancy at home with an identical scoreline. It all started in the match vs. Lorient when their bad series was snapped with the 1:1 draw. The team has been playing much better since then and it could be said that their mini series of wins helped them escape from the bottom of the standings. There’s no doubt this team possesses quality to stay in the league, but they will have to continue with such good results. They will have a tough job this weekend, as they will be hosting playful Marseille this weekend, and will surely be very happy even with 1 point.
Powerful again
After somewhat poorer form, Marseille’s players are again playing really well. All that is justified by their game from this Wednesday, when they managed to win a point at the hot ground in Milan, and stay in the race for the CL 1/8 finals phase. However, it should also be noted they had numerous amount of goal-scoring opportunities they wasted. At certain times, they seemed much more mature than their rival and were much closer to the win, but at the end had to settle with a draw only. There’s no doubt they’re slowly entering their well-known form, when almost nobody can match them. With a win here, they would get back in life and come significantly closer to the leading teams in the league.
Justifying the favorite role
Marseille has got only one task here and that is to justify the role of favorite against solid Lens. Of course, that job won’t be easy at all, but considering how Marseille’s players have been playing against Milan, everything but an away win would be a shocker. The odds are perfect and I have to take an advantage of it while it lasts.
