Although they started the season with a defeat, Villareal quickly woke up and recorded two wins. I think they’re on the verge of recording the 3rd one against much weaker Deportivo. They’re a solid side, a team playing attractive football and which doesn’t hesitate to show it on the pitch. They started their season poorly in Europe by losing 2:0 to Dinamo Zagreb on the road. Coach Garrido has got a lot of good, old players at his disposal as well as enough experience that comes with that. Their team captain is Marcos Senna, who is still playing quite good, and there are also Juan Capdevilla and newbie on the Yellow Submarine squad Marchena. Out of the foreigners, first we should mention relatively young Nilmar, who is certainly still a great talent, and who is expected to be scoring goals in each match. My opinion is they can record their 3rd win in Primera this season, but we’ll see.
No quality
Deportivo squad started the season quite poorly with 3 draws and goal difference 2:2. They don’t have too many ambitions this season and will be very happy if they eventually secure one of the places leading to EL next spring when the season ends. There are not too many stars in this squad, and they are mostly an experienced team having players such as Brazilian Juca for example. Captain and their defensive main man is Manuel Pablo, who is expected to be coordinating their back line in a successful way this season. On the goal they’ve got aging Aranzubia, who doesn’t have as quick reflexes as he used to have back in the day but is still a quality goalie. I am not sure they will be able to do much at this match though.
The hosts are better
Villareal is playing an attractive football, which couldn’t be said for Deportivo squad. They have more quality individuals on their team and are in better shape, and on top of all that they are playing at home in front of their fans, where they rarely lose. My advice for this excellent match is a home win, possibly by 2 or more goals. Good luck!
