It’s obvious Koeln has been very powerless as of late. The arrival of the biggest star in this club, Lukas Podolski, clearly didn’t help them that much as they are rarely managing to score goals. They scored only 7 times so far, which is, just like their 14th spot in the standings, a pretty bad result. The “Goats” coach Zvonimir Soldo has got a very tough task of trying to regroup his squad. The fight for survival in the league will probably be inevitable, but he will do his best to help his team get far away from the dangerous zone as early as possible. Soldo hasn’t got many problems before this game, as he will have all the players available. Therefore, Koeln will field there best lineup here, which is surely a good confidence boost before the match with Werder Bremen.
Schaff and the crew aren`t backing down
Thomas Schaaf has been in Werder since 1999. Although he used to play football back in the day, he is coaching in a much different way than he once played. His team is playing extremely offensive ever since he arrived to their bench, so every year they’re one of the most efficient sides in Bundesliga. A good team has been created this year as well, which can be easily used to win the title. That would maybe be a surprise, but not a major one as Werder surely has got lots of quality, no matter their biggest star, Diego, departed last summer. The guys from Bremen are playing terrific and are simply demolishing all of their opponents that stand on their way. They’re big favorites before the visit to Koeln, but they will have to justify that on the field, and I don’t doubt they will do so. Coach Schaaf doesn’t have Tosic, Vranes and Vander available for quite a while already, while their striker Pizzaro is also sidelined. However, his absence won’t be noticed as Swede Markus Rosenberg proved he is in terrific shape playing great against Nacional Madeira in Europa League a few days ago.
The visitors won`t slip up
Werder has just been playing so convincing lately that I even have no dilemma whether they will win this game or not. The hosts are in big problems, they’re playing bad and it’s unlikely to expect that the return of their biggest star Podolski to the field will bring something new. Werder is an absolute fav here and everything but away win would be a surprise. Also, over 2.5 could be worth a try. Good luck.
