Terrific results at home and a great efficiency have all helped Mainz be located at the 8th position in the standings after 11 rounds have been played in Bundesliga, which is currently just one place below the defending champs, Wolfsburg. They’re more than excellent at home this season, with only 1 draw and as many as 4 recorded wins. They score something a bit over 2 goals per average, which is more than great but not surprising as they possess a great attack, led by Bance. They put up a good resistance to Wolfsburg in the last season, drawing by 3:3 on the champs’ stadium. That boosted their confidence and the motivation before the clash with Nuernberg, where they will be interested in a win only, which would help them continue their excellent series of results at home.
Disappointingly poor
I didn’t expect Nurnberg to record such a bad result at the start of Bundesliga, after such a terrific run in Zweite in the last season. It’s true the quality difference between the leagues surely exists, but it’s never an easy job to keep the Bundesliga status the very next season you promote for it. But, it was definitely expected from Nurnberg to be playing a bit better, as 9 points isn’t really something to brag about. They didn’t start too well, but many gave them a chance and believed in their squad. Everything faded away as the weeks passed by, and now almost everybody is already giving up on them. They’re somehow winning points at home, but on the road they’ve still been playing bad. They usually get a positive result if they keep a clean sheet, and that will be extremely tough to do against some very powerful Mainz’s attacking line.
The hosts are favs
Mainz is undoubtedly a favorite in the clash against their last season’s rivals from Zweite, Nurnberg. The hosts have displayed a lot better form this season, while the visitors are playing worse and worse in every round, and can hardly get a positive result on the road against a very strong home team. I will give an advantage to Mainz here and believe they won’t let me down. I will of course say that this match won’t be an easy one at all, and the visitors might put up a strong resistance and thus only medium stakes.
