We all remember well how St. Pauli took the solid 8th position in the standings just by playing great at home in the last season. This year, the situation is totally different. The team is playing much better on the road, having as many as 5 wins, while they’re still partially good at home. That is of course the main reason why this side is at the top of the tables, and the third spot they’re currently holding is surely very satisfying. However, their club ambitions are growing each week so everybody in the club is starting to think that Bundesliga might be an option for them in the next season. They’ve proven that ain’t impossible with their performances, but they will have to maintain this rhythm till the end of the season, which will be an extremely tough task for them. Their well-known offensive play is still their main weapon. After a win in Rostock (2:0) they’re very motivated to record yet another win, which their fantastic home support will surely enable them.
Great in Zweite
Nobody expected Dusseldorf, a team that narrowly promoted to Zweite in the last season, to be recording such great results at the beginning of this one. They’ve been merciless at home, maybe cause they’re regularly playing in front of some 50,000 supporters. This club has got great working conditions, which isn’t a surprise considering their financially stable city is backing them up, as they are eager to again have a club that will be in the very top of German football again. After a bit of cold-warm type of form, they recorded 3 consecutive wins, which boosted their confidence to the sky limits. They demolished Frankfurt by 4:1 at home, recording a big surprise against the leaders Kaiserslautern winning by 2:0 on the road. In the last round, they continued their winning streak, winning against Karlsruhe by 1:0 at home. They’re aware they can’t lose much when they will be traveling to Hamburg and are eager to take advantage of the fact St. Pauli hasn’t been playing too great at home this season, at least not as good as they did in the last one.
The clash of two fired up teams
St. Pauli’s last game, just like Dusseldorf’s great play vs. Karlsruhe at home in the last round all give me confidence that this match will be full of goals. Both sides will enter the game very motivated and eager for new points. I expect both sides to approach the match using an attacking style of play, which should make this bet much easier to be won. Medium-high stakes.
