After over a year, Inter finally managed to record a win in the CL beating the Ukrainian champs, Dynamo Kiev, on the road. That win was absolutely vital, as they were last in the standings after the first 3 rounds, with only 1 point behind the group leaders in the most equal group of all. It seemed for quite a long time that Neroazzuri had yet another disappointing European evening, as the former Milan’s superstar, Andriy Shevchenko, brought the hosts a lead in the first half. Inter’s strikers wasted quite a lot of great goal-scoring chances in the 2nd half, but 4 minutes before the end, Diego Milito finally scored his first CL goal and equalized, while Wesley Sneijder scored in the 89th minute to bring his team their first victory in Europe this season. Jose Mourinho’s side is now at the top of the tables in that group and is in an excellent position to progress further, but nothing’s guaranteed for them yet. This is definitely the best period for this club ever since Mourinho took over as Inter now seems more confident than they were last season when they heavily relied on Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Now it’s time for them to again focus on their obligations in Serie A, as they will be facing a very dangerous Roma side, who gave them plenty of problems in the past few seasons.
Transition period
It could be said that the first couple of months in the new season have been very bad for Roma. After a few starting defeats, Luciano Spaletti left the club, and the team was taken over by Claudio Ranieri. The results varied to say the least, and just recently the club recorded 3 consecutive losses in Serie A, currently being at the 14th spot. That definitely isn’t the position where a club like Roma could be in, but the last few matches proved they do have a character. In the matches vs. Bologna and Fulham managed to turn the score around and record home wins. Tough defense and their mental strength have always been the main characteristic of the teams led by Ranieri, but Roma will have to get through a transitional period as this is a totally different coaching style compared to his predecessor. They are total underdogs against Inter, but their hopes can come from the positive results from the previous matches between these two teams. Roma hasn’t been defeated to Inter in Milan since 2005, during which period the Romanists also recorded 2 wins.
Tradional goal feast
A clash of these teams in Milan is always traditionally full of goals, with 3:3 being the score in their last clash played there. That was a bit controversial match where Roma led by 2:0, but in the second half Balotelli scored 2 out of 3 Inter’s goals and helped his team get a point. Inter is a huge favorite against Roma, who is still seeking their true identity, but just to be cautious my main bet here will be the over 2.5.
