In League Man City have failed to score in their last 3 Home matches. That`s a worrying stat if you`re considering backing them at such short odds against a side that is ranked 2nd in form vs Top Half sides. Only Man Utd are better than Bolton in that regard. The B Team that played midweek in the Europa Cup did the job well enough, but of course they will be put away again until the next round. This lack of gameplay for the likes of the starting XI vs Salzburg only creates division in the ranks and resentment as to the selection process and the manager. Mancini is not a players` man....he is a dictator. And that style of management doesn`t work when you have millions of pounds worth of ego sitting in the dressing room , sitting idle. Man City are a club which is capable of destroying any team on their day, but until they put a good run of form together I will keep backing against them.
Beautiful Game
It`s a beautiful game if you are a Trotters fan right now. Such heady heights, and all on merit. Top quality performances and a masterclass from Owen Coyle on what can be done with a limited budget but great man management. He must be a contender for Manager of the Year if this continues. And there are no signs that it won`t. The comeback from 2-0 down last week vs Blackpool showed the strength of character as well as the lapses in concentration that still plague them. They have drawn 3 times from winning positions, so there is still work to be done with the players, but at least they are racking up the points. They should find the net once more and that will be give Man City a lot to think about as they continue to struggle for regular goals.
Away Day Blues
Bolton have been in fine form, look solid across the pitch, and have strikers playing as one mind. They may well take all three points, but as Man City are a side that has multiple personalities it is hard to guess which one will show up on the day. I like the look of Bolton to score every time they play. With shitty weather in store it won`t suit the `foreigners` in the hosts ranks, and gloves and blankets will be the order of the day. Bolton are made of sterner stuff, and I believe will take the game to City. The visitors are not prolific away from home in front of goal, but they just seem to be so full of confidence at the moment I think it`s worth a punt.
