The fans of the most successful club from the Island don’t remember when was the last time their club was in such huge problems, both on and off the pitch. Benitez discovered that the club is in financial problems, but believes he won’t be forced to sell his best players in the winter as he is hoping the funds will be provided in order to get over the crisis. As far as their results are concerned, the things aren’t bright at all. Liverpool is having a very bad streak of results, as they recorded only 1 win in the last 8 matches played in all competitions. The problems occurred after injuries of their best scorer Torres and captain Gerrard, without whom Pool isn’t the same team. Besides, a few other players have been out in the last weeks such as Johnson, Aurelio, Skrtel, etc. It’s expected that Aquilani makes his debut for his new club, as he is still dragging an injury from his former club – Roma. According to some announcements, he will get his chance from the bench, as he still isn’t 100% ready to complete all the tasks on the pitch. It’s almost certain they will again be without captain Gerrard, while Torres will most likely have to rest for a couple more weeks as well, and without them they will have a very hard time recording a win. But, everybody believes the Reds can get all 3 points, mainly their fans, who will fill up the Anfield road completely. Will Rafa and his players finally end the black series, or it will get even worse? One thing is certain, if Liverpool doesn’t win, Benitez will be extremely close to getting sacked as the club owners surely won’t put up with him too much more, regardless of all the past great results he recorded with their team.
Can they resist Liverpool`s attacks?
Everybody in Birmingham is aware of the fact their tonight’s rival are in major problems, which haven’t been seen for many years. They will surely going to want to use that fact and record a good result, and continue their nice series. It all started some two rounds ago, when they hosted Sunderland and beat them by 2:1, ending their bad streak with that win. Then, they pulled a big upset in Manchester, managing to keep a clean sheet to the hosting City in the last round and win a huge point by playing 0:0. They would like to surprise favored Liverpool with some good and tough defense, and thus will be using a bit more closed formation. There is no reason to be forcing anything and attack the Benitez’s crew, and coach Alex McLeish will surely tell that to his players before this game.
Pool will have a hard time scoring
I’m totally convinced that Liverpool will very hardly score a goal at this game, as this team is almost impotent without their captain Gerrard and their best scorer Torres. The visitors will be defending with all their means, and be desperate just to win one point while they’ll be seeking their chance through counterattacks. I believe there won’t be many goals here, so I’d suggest you the under 2.5 bet, and for the braver ones, AH on the guests is also recommended.
