After a historical win over Lyon in the last round, Lille’s players now have an imperative to beat much worse St.Etienne. Coach Rudi Garcia’s players were down by 3:1 at halftime against Lyon at home, playing very bad in the first 45 minutes with the visitors totally outplaying them. However, something that’s not seen very often happened in the 2nd half. The hosts not only managed to stay undefeated but they turned the final outcome in their favor completely, winning by 4:3 and taking huge 3 points. Their confidence and optimism are at the highest level before this game. Lille’s players will be carried by their terrific 2nd half performance against Lyon and are gonna want to carry that play over to this game as well.
Poor form of the Greens
The last summer’s signings apparently didn’t prove to be too worthwhile. A lot better results were expected from St.Etienne, who have only 15 points after the first 15 rounds. They’re very near the relegation zone being just one spot above it, so the pressure on their players is extremely big in every match they play. They’re in a very bad form, recording only one win in the last 7 games. They haven’t scored a goal at home for the last 4 matches already, which clearly pictures coach Alain Perrine’s players impotence. In the last round they had a great opportunity to beat Sochaux, which usually plays in the cold-warm rhythm. However, they were held to a goalless draw, which is their 2nd consecutive draw. One thing is certain and that is, they won’t travel to this game with the white flag up. They will play brave and try to do unexpected and get back home happy, recording a positive result in Lille.
Lille will continue playing great
Lille simply crushed Lyon in the 2nd half of their last round’s game and according to everyone recorded a well-deserved victory. Besides, Lille’s players are usually playing really well at home, so they shouldn’t waste the opportunity of defeating a very poor St.Etienne side. The visitors will be under pressure, as their position in the tables doesn’t give them any reason to be relaxed. That might turn out to be an additional burden, on top of all that they already have this season. A home win seems more than safe, and that will be my suggestion for you here.
